Epic Link not picking up epics

Jason Harwood October 7, 2020

We are using Jira Cloud and have been for some time. Across numerous projects, suddenly today across numerous projects we are not able to pick up our epics and add tickets to epics via the Epic Link field.

Is this a known issue? Seems likely that this is a bug on Atlassian's side? Screen Shot 2020-10-08 at 3.05.51 pm.png

This screenshot shows me searching for the epic "Frogworks" which is an epic within the project I am working in, but no results are being returned.

This is the issue we are seeing across multiple projects within our Jira instance. Note: if I am in the backlog view, I am able to drag a ticket onto an Epic via the Epics panel, but this is the ONLY way that we can add a ticket to an epic. For example, if the ticket is In Progress, it is not possible to add the epic to the ticket via the epic link field - I would have to move the ticket back to the backlog and drag it onto the epic that way!

Please help!

I am not sure why, but this morning when I have logged in and really, the only thing I've done on my end was restart my computer.... this issue has either resolved itself or has been resolved.

I am able to assign an epic to a ticket again across all projects.

Weird! Thanks to @Fazila Ashraf for the prompt response.

@Jason Harwood  , glad that it was resolved..

I guess it was some bug in few cloud instances which Atlassian would have fixed quickly..

@Jason Harwood  , can you check whether the epic that is not returned has 'Epic status' as done?

@Fazila ashraf - thanks for the reply. That epic's status is not done. This is not specific to any particular epic, but EVERY epic across every project in our Jira instance.

If a ticket had previously been marked as part of an epic, then that is still true and showing as expected. But attempting to apply any ticket to any epic just shows zero results in the Epic Link drop down.

This is very strange as it is consistent across all projects/tickets in our space. Is this the case for anyone else using Jira Cloud? If not, then it is likely on our end, but I don't know what could possibly be causing this issue.
