Hello!
It seems that Jira notifications have changed recently, at least in my environment. It used to behave in such a way that I was not sent an email when I was the person who made a change to a card and typically if another user made a few changes at one time, such as leaving a comment, attaching a file and updating the ticket status, these would all be batched into a single email highlighting all three changes at once.
I am now receiving an email instantly on every single change and I am being sent an email when I was the one who made the change in the first place.
This means that if I, or anyone else, update a few cards and make comments I could walk away with a dozen or so emails at once for things I know I just did making the update emails pointless, or hard to follow since each item is reported individually.
As far as I know there were no changes to our notification settings. This behavior has been happening for about a week or so now.
Is there some way to tune this back to how it used to be?
Hello Adam,
to clarify in this link you can see that exist two available configs for the notifications to work, by your description looks like you were using batched notifications, and at some point it was changed to separated. Also in your user profile setting you have the option to configure wether notify or not your own changes.
I hope it helps, batched notifications are a great solution avoid flooding the inbox.
Hi Adria,
Thank you for this! I was able to change the settings to stop notifying on my own changes, but I am unable to find the batch notification options. When I select the cog and go to system settings as the attached guide would suggest there does not appear to be a batching setting.
Also when searching the admin settings for "batch" no settings are presented. I found this thread:
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Is-the-Batch-Email-Notifications-feature-available-in-Jira-Cloud/qaq-p/1031512
Which suggested in the last response that the setting was not possible to disable, but this is counter to the behavior I was seeing.

Hi Adam,
Sorry I did not realize you are on cloud,
So on the link posted when I changed to cloud it changes the displayed info according to cloud, and I can't find anything related to batch notifications to explain th previous behaviour, which describes the batched notifications available at the time only in Jira Server

Sounds good! I didn't realize there was a difference in features between the two deployments.
I marked your answer as accepted since it was at least able to turn of personal activity notifications.
Thank you for your help!
