How can I get off the "keys" in the cards in the board view?

Bata December 22, 2022

I folks, I just tried to figure out, how can I turn off the "keys" from my cards in the Kanban Board view?

When I navigate to preferences of the project, then to the board, and then to Title Image and Layout Cards  - I only see the option to get rid of the title pictures.

But I miss an Option to "not see all the keys of the Tasks" within my cards on the board.

(Maybe even the date)

Thank you!!!

Best

Seb

Hello @Bata

Are you work with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? It will say which it is at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.

I think that you are working with a Team Managed project.

If it is a Team Managed project you cannot customize what displays on the cards on the board.

I believe the date you are seeing is from the Due Date field in the issue. If the field is not empty, the value will be displayed on the card.

I am not sure what field the other items are from. Can you show us the Details view of the issue you have highlighted - AFZ-1?

Hi Trudy,

thank you for your answer.
Yes, you are right, it is a Team managed Project.

I took a picture of the issue (german labels ... )

It means: "Due Date" and "Keys" ...

Thank you for your help Trudy

Hello @Bata

I don't have a Stichwort/Keys field in my Team Managed project. I believe that is a custom field. Can you look at the field configurations for that project and tell us what type of field that is?

Could that field have been added to your configuration by a third party application added to your Jira instance?

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,

I switched to language english and it is "label".

Maybe I should not use those...?

Thank you for help.

(thrid party App is impossible)

An addition: I figured out, that this only appears when it is a Team-Managed-Project.

Is there  way to uograde to company-managed-Project?

Hello @Bata

Both Team Managed and Company Managed projects are available in the Jira Software product. However, they provide different features.

As you have found, Team Managed projects display some issue fields on the card automatically, and you are not able to customize this. In a Company Managed project there are also some fields that automatically display and can't be removed, but you can also add more fields to display.

You cannot directly convert a Team Managed project to a Company Managed project. You would need to create a new Company Managed project and then use the Move Issue function to move the issues from the Team Managed project to the Company Managed project. Review this information when deciding if that is action you want to take.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/migrate-between-team-managed-and-company-managed-projects/

Another important difference is that with Team Managed project the Project Administrator is able to modify issue types, create custom fields, and change the workflow. In a Company Managed project those things can be done only by a Jira Administrator.

If you have not worked with Company Managed projects before I recommend that you set one up as a test project and spend time exploring the functionality to learn more about the differences. Converting from one type of project to another is not simple. It would be unfortunate if you converted and then found that you didn't have the functionality you needed.
