I cannot assign Epics directly on Stories, Tasks, Bugs, or Spikes because the field is not appearing anywhere on the Issue customization screen. How do I add an Epic field to these Issue types?
For a Team Managed project you cannot add the Epic field to the issue and add an issue to an Epic by editing the field. Here are some ways you can add an already created issue to an Epic.
1. Click the Add Epic link in the issue breadcrumbs.
2. When viewing the issue on a Board, click the ... and select Add Parent.
3. If you have the Backlog screen and you hover over the card you will see a +Epic button that you can click.
4. If you have the Backlog screen and the Epics panel, drag the issue from the issue list and drop it on the Epic.
This is helpful, but why on earth can you not add an epic field for a team managed project? Makes no sense.

The options work, the problem is when you want to use JQL to extract reports, since the field does not exist it is impossible to filter it by the epic
Or how do you extract issues from an epic with JQL when the project is managed by the team?
Seriously, the team-managed project option is for people who like to suffer.

Thanks for the help, it worked for me, in the forums they only told me to use "Parent Link", now it's a matter of just using Parent=<Epic Issue Key>
Thank you!

@Trudy Claspill How do we get that "Add Epic" link to show up in the breadcrumb? It's not there anymore for our new project and it's driving me bonkers that I can't find anywhere to have it show up!

Hello @Faruk Ateş

I have exactly same problem. Above answers show how to 'link' existing Epics with existing Stories. However once they are linked, how to display associated Epic on the Issue Screen? I can't find the Epic link on the Context field. I believe that was also an initial question from @Hollin Wakefield

@Trudy Claspill thanks Trudy. My question is how to make a linked EPIC to a Story visible on the issue screen. Do you know?
