Hi guys,
I'm wondering is it possible to change multiple issues' status on the Kanban Board?
I know there's a bulk change option on the right-click menu when multiple issues are selected, but I got many complaints from my colleagues saying it is not easy to use (too much options, and the website would automatically leave the board page when the operation is finished). It would be nice if users can change the status on the board by simply draging the issues to the other columns, or pressing some buttons.
We're fine with developing a plugin to achieve this, but I'm not sure if this is achievable with the jira plugin modules provided by the Atlassian SDK (like which module can be used to get the issues selected by the user). If you could provide some ideas about how it can be achieved, I would really appreciate it.
Hi @Yukkurii and welcome to the Community,
As long as you don't have workflow validators in place or a transition screen associated with a transition, it works. Just select multiple cards by clicking on them and holding your <ctrl> key. Then drag the set of cards into the next status: bulk status update completed.
As soon as you have a screen or validation involved, this no longer works - simply because you need to provide additional information for each issue.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the response.
I created a new Scrum software development project and tried the following steps to make sure no validator is associated. But it seems that the draging operation is still not allowed. Did I miss any steps?
1. I went to the Project settings - Workflows page to find the workflow used.
2. Then I entered the edit page of the workflow and checked all the transitions (basically all the arrows in the diagram), the only validator I found was the one prevents users without creating issue permission to perform the transition, associated with the Create transition.
3. I removed the transition and published the workflow.
4. I also checked the screen schemes used in the project. For each scheme, all the screens have the same set of fields configured. So I think no extra info would be required when performing a transition.
Then I created two issues and tried to drag them in the kanban board. I can see the draging animation, but I cannot place them in the other columns, they just restored to their original place when I released the mouse button.
