In a project I always create epics and user stories which are quit detailed and contain flowcharts, images, criteria, reasons why we choose a specific solution ...
It is a complete description of projects.
I think it is a shame that this information is "lost" when stories are closed.
When you click an epic, you don't see the closed stories and issues (which I understand).
Is there a better way to keep the information available? Withouth creating confluence pages for every story :)
I know I can filter on closed stories but then you have an unstructured list .. just wondering if I am alone with this feeling, or if there are solutions without copy pasting everything in confluence.
In the past I wrote the user stories in confluence/google drive and used the jira tickets simply to contain a link to the document, but that's not ideal.
Hi Jack and Joshua,
We would like to have an overview of all the work that has been done in the past on our projects.
Like the backlog view with the epics and version pane, but also showing the closed issues and issues from previous sprints.
So when we want to make changes or adding new features we can lookup in the story (that contains the information) how things are implemented, without the need of diving into the code.
Let's say we make an API call, the story will contain the request and response message.
That would be nice to have available all the time also when a project or story is finished.
Hi Tim, I may be missing you goal as well here. Can you explain what you are looking for as it seems to me that a simply query by epic link would give you all stories in the epic. I suspect you are looking for something that provides a prettier output that a filtered list maybe? I don't understand how you lose site of closed stories. Maybe a screenshot of what you are seeing or wish to see would help.

Hi Jack
I don't see any dashboard gadgets that shows the issues in a way similar to the backlog view.
Ideally I would see the panes with versions and epics (or even only epics would be nice) just as in the backlog but without the notion of sprints.
So you just see all the stories per epic but you see also the panes so you see that there ar other epics and the nesting structure etc...
A list is just a list, it does not provide a good overview of the structure. It is all flat. When you click through, you lose the overview etc..

Correct there is no gadget or solution to display done issue in a backlog screen with versions and epics. I was simply offering a solution that would allow you to show done issues in a list or other manner. I am unaware of any such add-on that would provide what you’re looking for either. However that does not mean one does not exist.

Hi Tim,
That is an atypical behavior that is likely due to the way the project is configured. Without knowing, I would guess that issue security gets set on the transition into the resolution status. I would talk to the project or Jira admin to identify why the issues are hidden. Cheers!
