How to add kanban board to existing scrum project

Hello,

I have a scrum project. However, currently, we are not running sprints. I want to add a Kanban board to my project for now and move the current sprint tasks to kanban board. I don't want to convert it to Kanban because we may start running sprints in the future and need a scrum board. Please explain the steps. Thank you.

In looking at your image I am thinking that you are on a team managed project. You can verify this by looking at the lower left corner. Assuming that is true then you simply need to go into project settings and then features and disable sprints. Should you ever want to return to scrum then you can simply reverse that. If you prefer to have both boards available then you can follow my original steps below with one additional step and one note...

  • NOTE: When creating the Kanban board set the location to be your profile as you will not be able to select your TMP project.
  • step 5 - add a shortcut to your kanban board from the sidebar of your project

Hi @Özge Özgenç ,

  1. I would first recommend that you inspect the current board filter. If it is simply something like project = ABC, no worries however, if it’s more complex, then I would copy it and paste it somewhere for later use.
  2. Click into the search box in the main menu and at the bottom select Boards
  3. click on create board
  4. Follow the prompts to create the Kanban board and you can either use from project if filter was simple or create and save the complex filter and use to create Kanban.

Hello @Jack Brickey

This is very helpful, thanks a lot.

I would like to have both scrum and kanban boards; however, there is an issue. In the search field, I cannot select my project as it does not appear. Is this because it is a team-managed project? How can I fix this?

I have the same issue. My project doesn't appear in the dropdown list. I think it's because it's a software project, and Jack's solution only works for business projects.

@Leo Petersen , If you have a TMP then you will need to use your profile as the Location. Feel free to share a screen shot of your project page if you need assistance.

Thanks for that. Yes, I want to add a kanban board for the "SAND9" software project, which is set up with a scrum board. I can choose my profile as location, that works.

The issue is that"SAND9" does not appear in the list of projects to choose from. And as long as I don't select a project in the project dropdown, the "Create board" button is grayed out.

To add a bit of detail: My "SAND7" project, which is a business project, does occur in the dropdown list. But my "SAND9" project, which is a software project, does not.

Is your SAND9 a Team managed project? If so it will not appear there. You would need to choose your profile in the location.

Leo Petersen June 10, 2024

Yes, SAND9 is a team managed project. I do choose my profile in the location. However, the "Create board" button is grayed out, as long as I don't select a project in the project dropdown.

Ah yes...so you need to use "create from existing filter" rather than "from existing project". First creat your filter "project = sand9" and save it the reference in your create board from filter.
