Hi @[deleted]

If you're a Jira Admin then you'll be able to see the Cog-Wheel icon(looks like a settings icon beside your avatar) then, please

  • Click on that and select Issue Types
  • Click on Add Issue Types and give name as Feature
  • Choose whether you want it to be Standard/Sub-task Issue Type and click create
  • Now go to Issue Type Schemes, click on edit and add this to your project (by dragging the issue types from right to left) and save it
  • Go to Issue Type Screen Scheme and choose the already existing issue type screen scheme and click on configure
  • Then click on associate an issue type with a screen scheme and select the issue type as Feature and the screen scheme for it

Thanks

Kinnera

Hi @Kinnera[Appfire] ,

Since User story is already present in my view as a Issue type, so Once I create the Feature issue type, how can i link the user story to Feature,, Basically i wanted to structure like this Epic -> Feature -> User Story -> Task.

Hope I am clear with my query. Please help me on this.

Appreciate your help.

Hi @Kinnera[Appfire] ,

I certainly get it to create a new issue type named Feature as you mentioned but can i establish a parent child relationship between a Epic & Feature. We wanted a representation like this Epic -> Feature -> User story -> Task .

Similarly a parent child relationship between Feature & User Story or User story & Task.

Can you please suggest me a option where i can create a presentation like this.

Epic -> Feature -> User story -> Task

Hi @[deleted]

By default in JIRA, Epic can be split into multiple stories. That means one Epic(Standard Issue Type) can have multiple Story(StandardIssue Type) Issue types.

So in this case you can say Epic as a parent and Story as a child.

Now Story can have a child too because it is a Standard Issue Type.

Now how to create a child for Story?  While you create an Issue Type you can see two checkboxes i.e., Standard and Sub-Task. Choose the Sub-Task and create one

(example: User-Story)

Now you can link all the User-Story Issue-type issues to your Story issues. But this User-Story can also be used as a child to any other Issue-types.

Hence by default, you can have Epic -> Story

Thanks for the explanation. If i understood clearly, once i create a Sub task issue type choosing check boxes as Sub-Task, so after that I can create sub task only under User Story.

Once a Sub-Task is created then you can use that under any Parent issues.

Got it. So any Standard issue type ( parent) can have sub task issue types... Thanks for the help.
