Dear Sir/ Madam,
Client Requirement : - All defects reported by a group of business user must get auto transitioned from NEW status to 'OPEN' status and must get auto assigned to development team.
Our Workflow starts with 'NEW' --> Open --> and thereafter other transition.
For achieving this, I've created a rule which fails every time at the time of transition change...
Need guidance where I'm going wrong in my query and how to achieve this automation.
Regards
Santosh Prajapati
In your Rule Details what is the Actor value set to?
With the Actor for your rule set to "Automation for Jira" you need to ensure that the project role "atlassian-addons-project-access" is granted access to execute the Status Transition. Currently you have limited the transition execution to user groups only, so the Rule Actor does not have permission to change the Status of the issue.
Alternately, if the Rule is triggered by actions only the users in the permitted groups can execute, then change the Rule Actor to 'User who triggered the event'

What is the query, and failure?

Sharing screenshot of the query and audit log of the error. Basis the error, I've checked the 'Issue Security Scheme' where the said user has the rights along with the workflow for transitioning from New to Open still getting this error. Please advise.

Sharing additional screenshot of 'Issue Security Scheme' as well as 'Workflow' where the required rights are already extended to the group.

The error message is clear - the Automation user cannot use that transition. Security scheme looks fine, but what permissions do they have in the project and the rest of the conditions?

Hi,
My automation rule has successfully triggered. Thank you for all the support.
I've made below suggested changes to make it work which was missed earlier by me -
"With the Actor for your rule set to "Automation for Jira" you need to ensure that the project role "atlassian-addons-project-access" is granted access to execute the Status Transition."
Thank You
