Mathieu Daudelin August 21, 2020

Hello!
Could someone please explain to me how it could link Jira tasks to Trello?

Thanks for your concern.
Best regards,

As Jack said, it depends on what your needs are. The free Jira power-up for Trello allows you to create Jira tickets from pre-existing cards, and also allows you to add a link to an existing ticket to any card. What it doesn't do is automatically create a new card for every ticket created; I don't know if any integration would do that, and I don't know that you'd want that anyway.

There are other integrations that will allow changes to Trello cards to update Jira tickets and vice versa, but I think you'd still need to manually link them the first time. There are two I know of (although have not personally used); neither are free.

Sync Jira with Trello is a Jira plugin, available for Server and Cloud.

Unito is a Trello power-up that works with Jira Server and Jira Cloud.

Hmm… well this is unfortunate. What I wish for is indeed flawless integration between both. Why would anybody go and create stuff manually, it doesn’t make any sense. Tasks exist on both sides, why can’t they be linked automatically? These are productivity services, both made by the same company, and nothing like that still exist? And why would one pay extra for a core feature that should be provided by default? It honestly is a bit depressing.

Thank you for your concern.

Finding it depressing as well. My team really needs this to manage a business process with upper management.

So it depends on your goals. You might find this article useful - How-useful-is-Trello-integration-with-JIRA

Thanks. Am I understanding this right by saying that I would need to manually link every single Jira tasks to new cards I would create in Trello…?
