The resolution field is a standard system field that you should set with a post function in your workflow. Where are you trying to use the field and what are you seeing?
Another project in my company has it set when you mark an issue as done you select the resolution:
In my project there's no option and no field to enable this.

After doing some more research it may be a Team vs. Company managed project issue.

Ah, so if this is a Team-managed project, that's probably the issue. It will just mark it as a Done resolution.

Yeah. I really wanted the “not an issue” resolution but I just made a “trash” status which is good enough for now. Not worth the migration right now.
