Roadmap not showing lanes

Vasco Guerreiro November 18, 2021

Hi!

I had a Scrum board where the roadmap was working and showing lanes per epic and issue.

Since I edited the query filter to include issues from other projects, I had to create one sole board with issues only from this project, so that I could see the roadmap. However, I get this empty roadmap:

Just to give more context: all issues are assigned to a person, to an epic and to a sprint - that's why it's strange they don't appear there.

Is it some setting I'm missing, perhaps?

Thanks

Hello @Vasco Guerreiro,

Thank you for reaching out to the Atlassian Community!

Testing on my local site, I wasn’t able to replicate the same issue.

Adding a filter to a board that contains the Epics, the Roadmap shows all the Epics and their date range.

Main board:

project in (SCRUM) AND issuetype in (Epic, Story, Task, Bug) ORDER BY Rank ASC
Test board:

project = SCRUM AND issuetype in (Bug, Epic) ORDER BY Rank ASC

If you change the timeline to Weeks or Quarters, are there any changes?

Have you tried creating a new Epic adding the start and due date to see if it shows on the Roadmap?

If possible, share with us the filter or a screenshot of Board settings > General so we can try to replicate it here (just make sure to hide private information).

Kind regards,
Angélica

Hi, Angélica.

No, changing the timeline view from Months to Weeks or Quarters produces no changes.

On that view above, the printscreen I sent earlier, I can in fact assign a start and end date for a sprint, which creates a "block" in that lane. However, that is not the same as having a dynamic roadmap. (and I don't have those lanes on the issues, only in the epics)

I also tried to do the following:

- I have access to another project, which uses the roadmap (dynamic, all working well)

- I made a 100% copy of that board (I didn't do any changes, it was just for tests) and the roadmap has the same issue, doesn't show lanes

Apparently, and I don't know if this is the case, the roadmaps seem to work fine only for the boards where one has created the epics and issues.

To counter this, I had to create a plan, so that I can see issues with the start and end lane, plus the roll-up on the epics. Sadly, there are no colours per epic, in this view.

I'm attaching the following images:

- What happens in board 1 from project A (the main one, I shared before) when I insert a start and end date to an epic (I can click directly in the roadmap to create that color block);

- The roadmap from project B, board 1 (working fine)

- The roadmap from project B, board 2 (the copy, not working fine)

- General settings for project A, board 1

- General settings for project B, board 1

- General settings for project B, board 2

Thank you for sharing the screenshots, Vasco.

I was able to replicate the issue now. I have a project with three boards. One has the active sprint (the original one) and the other two are a kanban and another scrum board.

All of them are using the same filter, but only the original one from the project where the sprint was created/started shows on the roadmap along with the start/end date of the child issues.

Then I started a new sprint on the other scrum board, the sprint showed correctly on the roadmap and then this new sprint, even though it shares the same filter, same backlog, is not showing on the original board.

Here is a screenshot of my tests.

Screen Shot 2021-11-24 at 13.50.57.png

On the left side, it’s the original board/sprint and on the right side, it’s the other scrum board. The tickets are the same, but the date range and sprints are only those that were started on the board itself.

Currently, this is expected, it’s not a bug. There is a feature request suggesting this improvement:
