Sprint completed Jira automation not triggering anything

Hi

Wondering if anyone can help me, I have an automation rule set up for each of my 4 projects so that when a sprint is completed, it sends me an email.

This automation rule works for all but 1 of my projects.  I have just copied each of the rules so they are exactly the same but pointing towards different projects and different boards.

There are no errors in the log, it's not triggering at all.

Thanks

Spoke to support - all the other sprints had been created for a board that didn't exist - no idea how it happened.  But it appears to have now fixed itself and working correctly :)

Hi @Lucy Cookney

While you are checking the other rules for that project which appear to not be working...

Please consider using unique rule names for the project-specific rules.  I noted the warning in your rule details showing multiple rules with the same name at that scope, and that may make it difficult to see problems in the audit log.  (Apparently, there is no restriction in automation with re-using a rule name as the id uniquely identifies it.)

Best regards,
Bill

@Radek Dostál @Bill Sheboy

The rules I had when the Sprint starts have now been fixed.  But this one I have with the Sprint being completed, still doesn't work and nothing in the Audit log:

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The 'Send email' part is a specific email address or something dynamic, like user groups, smart values, etc.?

Because given that there is no condition on this, and it obviously ran and triggered on the 'When' part - I would expect nothing other than "Success" every time.

Is there anything more in the 'Show more' part? It typically would show some reasons or the part where the rule evaluated false or something. I'd still expect "Success" everytime though, so a bit curious what it says there.

Hi @Radek Dostál

The email address is my email address.

There is no 'show more' as there is nothing in the audit log for today.  Its as if the completion of the sprint isn't triggered at all.

Thanks

Hi @Lucy Cookney

At this point, I suggest submitting a ticket to Atlassian support as they can see stuff in logs which customers cannot access.  You should be able to do that as site admin for a paid instance here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

You can include a link to this thread in the ticket for some context, and when you learn more from them, please consider posting back here so the entire community can benefit.  Thanks!

You mention no errors in log, are we talking about the Audit log on the rule?

If other rules do have entries in the Audit log, and this one does NOT, then the "When" condition is not picking it up.

Which makes me think that something is amiss here, but I've never tried this automation rule myself. Maybe it could be an issue with the scope? If the board is used by multiple projects, or if the sprint contains multiple projects itself, then maybe the single project scope ignores it (although that sounds weird).

The automation account also has all the permissions, like board view permissions?

Hi @Radek Dostál

Thanks for the response.

I have just discovered something else - I have a few Sprint triggered rules and none of them are working for this one project but work fine for the others.

I am going through and comparing the settings with a project that's working fine.  Have already changed the filter query slightly.  Unfortunately, I won't know if it's worked until the next Sprint starts in 2 weeks haha but fingers crossed!

:)
