×Hi
We are using Multi user select field to represent a member from a team( X ) in my organization. Now I wanted to change that. I can't rename it as a multi user select field doesn't have user based filtering in the context. So I have to create a new Single select user field and I wanted to copy data from old field to new field for old tickets for which I can't use automation as the type of fields is different. May I know the best option available?
Thanks & Regards,
Mahanth
Hi @MahanthPrudhvi,
Unfortunately, Jira Cloud does not provide a built-in feature to directly copy data from a multi-user select field to a single select user field for existing tickets. Therefore, using a third-party app may be the best option available in this case.
In Jira Server or Data Center, you can use automation rules to update the Request Participants field (which is similar to a multi-user picker field) based on the content of other fields. However, this feature is not available in Jira Cloud.
Also, if you feel my input help you please accept the answer.

Bhushan
Hi @BHUSHAN PATIL thanks for the suggestion, but we are not using the "script runner" and we can't buy the app for just one purpose for now(it does have lot of features).

just to add to Bhushan's answer: If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace and would prefer a more interactive experience, you may like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also allows bulk editing your issues, via copy/paste. This works within the various columns, but also across columns, and across fields of different field types. This is how it looks in action:
You can update any number of issues in one action, so you should be done with your work in no time. (I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.)
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Hi @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira
Thanks for the suggestion. I like the addon functionality but I don't think it is feasible to spend the money for just few minutes of work for once.
