Trying to set up a dashboard for certain labels

Guys just needed some help here, im trying to search for certain labels i.e project = "XX" AND "RunOps Tags[Labels]" in (US, OUS), which in filters works like a dream however, when creating a dashboard out of it, its become problematic. It shows up ALL the labels i have (over a 100) and i have to manually go to segments and remove one by one.. and any new filters that get created gets added to it. How do i make it so it only shows the two i want?

Hello, @Bhavik Chauhan I would like to offer you another solution (from the Marketplace) for your request.

In Performance objectives app you can define 2 (or more) data sources - as per your example one data source for Project CF and label US (label is defined in JQL), another data source for Project CF and label OUS. Then you can display data on a bar chart 'by Data Source'

Here is an example of the visualization for that kind of configuration. 'Resolution', 'Security' and 'UX' are Labels in Project 'X', defined as 3 separate data sources in the 'Performance Objectives' dashboard gadget (3 Labels of many).

You can also use the Circular Chart gadget in the app and visualize your data on a pie chart. There you can add 2 more levels of hierarchical data using any other Field or Metric available in the app, for example add Issue Type as Level 2, as shown on the right chart:




The chart is interactive and you can click on any of the inner elements to drill down and inspect the data in more detail.

If you decide to give it a try, our support team will be glad to help with the configuration.

If you are already using eazyBI, I guess you may use that concept there as well.

Your app would still have the same issue as the built-in Jira gadget - the scope of the gadget includes CF values the user does not want to see.

”You can’t have your cake and eat it too” I think would the applicable quote. 😅

I think the solution I proposed meets @Bhavik Chauhan's requirement.

The data in the gadget is displayed by segments (user defined data sources), not by Labels, the data sources are named to equal the Labels they are filtering.

Below is a simple example of the difference between displaying data 'By Data Sources' and displaying data 'By Labels' in the app.

These are the test issues with their labels for both configurations:

And below are the results. Chart 1 is configured with 3 data sources, each filtering 1 label (API, Grid, Data) and displaying data by data sources. Chart 2 is configured with 1 data source (all issues) and displaying data 'by Label':



Here is the configuration screen showing the display settings for both charts:

So this issue APO-18524 with Label Chrome is not included in the first chart. Issues with more than one matching Label are counted separately in each segment.

Multiple data sources in the first configuration allow you to segment and display data only for these particular labels.

If I am wrong about what you expect to see, please let me know.

@Tanya _DevAcrobats_ - can the data sources be split by custom field, instead of label?

Can a data source be a custom field, and a subset of its values? That's the situation that @Bhavik Chauhan is in. The custom field he references in his ask has "Labels" in the custom field name, but it isn't a native Jira "label".

Bhavik wants to see info on this range of data:

• issues where custom field A = values A, B, C

In the statistic results, he only wants to see stats on 

• custom field A, values B, C (but not value A)

P.S. the above is me simplifying Bhavik's situation, but it's basically this. 😅

Yes, a data source can filter a custom field, and a subset of its values.

I've created a 'Custom field A' as per your example, and values A, B, C, D, E for the same set of issues, please check:

In my answer I was using native Jira 'Labels' to give an example of the visualization, but I described that custom labels can be filtered in JQL.

@Bhavik Chauhan - hi Bhavik! Can you confirm that the filter "Tickets US and OUS" returns results only with US an OUS values?

Check the filter, and share its JQL please.

I think if the filter is restricted to only those values, the Issue Statistics dashboard gadget should only show stats based on that filter's results.

@Bhavik Chauhan - from what I read above, "Android" and "iOS" are also values in the "RunOps Tabs[Labels]" custom field (the same field that contains "US" and "OUS".

If my understanding is correct, you'll need to have the values "Android" and "iOS" present in a different custom field, and have that custom field be the Statistic for that dashboard gadget.

If "Android" and "iOS" are present in a different custom field, change the dashboard gadget Statistic to that field.

Recap:

• ensure your filter that "feeds" your gadget only returns Issues you want to get Statistics on
• the custom field specified on the Statistic dropdown (in your gadget) will return only values present in that custom field

 - Android, OS, US, OUS

Definitely search the eazyBI Community, and start a thread if you don't find what you need.
