Unable to create child issue under Epic

Deleted user August 19, 2022

When I am trying to create a child issue under a epic (user story/task/bug), it shows me a usual screen with dropdown to select the issue type and when I hit the create button the issue is created in the backlog but not under the epic.

Please help.

Whenever I click "Add a child issue" It always opens the create new issue dialogue and when I save, it just gets added to the project and not the Epic. I can't figure out why..

Check the project permissions. Make sure you have the Edit issues permission for that project.

Hello @[deleted]

How many screens do you see under Project Settings > Issues > Screens? By default, you will have only one (default) screen. Screens allow you to arrange the fields to be displayed for an issue. Different screens can be used when an issue is created, viewed, edited, or transitioned through a workflow.

If you want to see the Epic Link, Epic Name, or any other field when creating an issue, you can create a new view with these fields to select the epic related to the issue you're creating.

Hope this is helpful!

I can see two screens under Project Settings > Issues > Screens

All I want is that when I open an epic, I see all the issues the epic has.
I am only able to see the issues in backlog and not under the epic.

Please help what should be done.

I understand. Do you see Epic fields when you're creating issues? Do you see the epic tags on any of your issues that you have created? As you're using a scrum board, all your issues will appear in the backlog unless click to expand any epic where you can see the child issues under.
