Unsecure email communication - tickets

Good Day

Can Atlassian please fix it's ticketing system to integrate PGP?  PGP is the minimum for acceptable secure email communication, and when a customer requests  the email chain to be secured with PGP, the only acceptable answer is "Sure!".

It's 2022, PGP came out in 1991, which means there is no excuse.  If the tools don't support it, then either write a new tool, write a middle wear, or find another solution.   It's not acceptable to ignore this kind of request, and if you company isn't ready for it, then get ready now.

Thanks

For Server / Data Center, our app S/Notify Email Encryption for Jira provides end-to-end PGP encrypted emails from and to Jira.

We would love to provide our solution for Jira Cloud, too, but we are still waiting for an API from Atlassian that would allow us to intercept email processing. Unfortunately, there is currently no way for us to create a cloud app.

See also JSDCLOUD-8850 where a customer has created a feature request for this, and others have voted for it. You may want to join them.

Okay, but I'm asking you to enable email encryption between your customer support staff / ticketing system and your users.  For instance if I submit a ticket, and specify PGP, the entire thread should be encrypted and tied to the keys.

Our app can actually provide a solution for this.

Incoming emails can be encrypted using the Jira server's public key. Outgoing emails need the customer's public key to get encrypted. There are multiple ways to get them.

For example, if a user submits a ticket via email, and they include their PGP key, S/Notify Email Encryption for Jira can be configured to

  • automatically extract the key from the email
  • store it for this customer
  • use it to encrypt any emails sent to this customer

Alternatively, pgp keys can be retrieved from public pgp servers, if the customer has published their key there.

Or are you asking Atlassian to support PGP encryption for their own support desk? If so, they need our app! :-D

Okay, so just to be clear, if I use: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

To submit a bug to Atlassian, and I tell Atlassian that I want to use PGP, then this is possible?  I've never had a customer service agent, from Atlassian, ever use PGP, even after being requested to do, sighting it's impossible from Atlassian's side.

No, I'm sorry, if that's what you requesting, I wouldn't know that Atlassian can support PGP encryption in their own service desk.

I thought you were asking how to set this up in your own Jira.

Just to clarify: I'm not an Atlassian team member.

That's fine, I'm demanding this feature get added, because it's essential for email communication.
