Using ScriptRunner Scheduled Jobs in Jira Cloud

Hello guys,

my team is evaluating, whether we can switch from jira datacenter to jira cloud. We encountered some obsticle, the limitation of scriptrunner for instance.

In our projects we need scheduled jobs that are only executed once or half a year. But because in jira cloud there seems no way to use cron expressions, we can not copy paste our code, which is already working.

Is there a workaround for that problem? Do you know a way to solve that?

Best, Daniel

Hi @dD

I almost had this same problem, but thankfully we went to datacenter. Combining Automation and scriptrunner might work for you. I know you can use cron with the Automation plugin and then scriptrunner provides two actions that can be used to run your own code.

Thanks,

Hey @Tim Perrault ,

I didnt specified my question right. We have already datacenter in use and everythng works perfect.

But as our licenses are running out now, we are considering going in the cloud, as it seems that jira wants their customers there (now we could easyli do the change - later it would be difficult).

We would go in the cloud if we could continue to use our scriptrunner scripts as well as our interfaces to external sources, as we do with jira datacenter.

But as it seems the cloud is very limited and some elements are restricted.

Yea you're going to be giving up some stuff when you move to cloud. Some of the things can be replicated, but you'll have to adjust how you do them. Then there will be things you just can't do anymore. Personally I like Datacenter, but I see how cloud could be more friendly to the end user. Everything seems to be going subscription based no matter how you slice it.

If everything works in Datacenter I would just stick with that. Datacenter was also cheaper in the long run for us based on amount of projects and users. Not too mention all the prep work and adjustments we would have had to make if we did move to cloud. The one downside is new features seem to come out for cloud before they make their way over to the Datacenter side.
