Why do I get an error requiring a JQL for my transition from a scheduled trigger?

I want an issue created weekly at a certain date and time then have that issue transitioned to a specific status.

I can create the issue just fine at the set date/time, but when I add the transition to status step I get an error saying I need a JQL to provide issues. I have a set workflow and even tried the transition match keywords .*To Do - Weekly.* and that didn't work.

In the trigger description it says you can use this to "simply execute this rule" so why am I getting the JQL requirement?

Hi Kayla - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You need to check the box that says Run a JQL search ...

and enter a JQL query there.

I had been hoping that wouldn't be needed since I was nervous about pulling up not my items (this would be my first JQL search) and messing up someone else's work.

I ended up making a separate rule with a JQL specific enough for each of my categories so as I make more items to transition I don't need to do a special search in each rule.
