I'm dipping my toe into automation for the first time and this donkey kong won't work.
I'm trying to set it that when a ticket is assigned to an epic, it auto copies the epic's fix version.
I currently have:
When: Value changes for Epic/Theme
Then: Edit issue fields: add fix version from epic issue
I can't even tell if it works or not because it doesn't fire when I'm doing the action I want it to fire on. I must be doing something wrong but for the life of me I can't figure out what!
@Kitty CrawfordI think what you need to do is to be more specific on the field you are changing. In other words, your issue needs to have the Epic Link field and use that as the trigger.
I suspected that might be part of the issue, but I can't find it in the drop down list? and I've tried parent link already, it didn't do anything either. Epic Link just isn't there.

Ouch. I didn't realize that Epic link didn't exist as a field to check. Another annoying day with Jira. I started to go down the smart value rabbit hole and then thought better of that.
I got this idea from another community post here from @John Funk.
Missing Epic Link in the Automation's Issue fields condition?
Since you aren't creating a new ticket perhaps this would work:

Glad I could help. Not all me though. Thanks to @John Funk also.

Hey Kitty,
What type of project is this? And can you share the rule that you have?

It's a jira software project - I believe it's an experimental version of JIRA? Could be wrong though.
I'm not sure how to share it? I've been able to export it but not sure what else to do with that.... hang on... here's a google link to that export https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZrhNN1ua8c2qBaceSwAgkXDWfLaaPLKR/view?usp=sharing

I was thinking more of just a screenshot. :-)
Also, is it a Team-managed or Company-managed project?

Oh, I tried attaching a screenshot in the initial post but couldn't see it, I see it now! Sorry having one of those days.
Not sure if you mean in jira or not by that but I'd say team managed

Sorry, I was traveling today and not able to respond quicker. What @Danno provided was the exact path I was going down. Glad you got it solved.
