'@' mention not working for users

Hi, Since I'm the administrator for our Org, I could use the '@' mention in 'Comments' to address to other users for any queries in JIRA. But other users are unable this feature. When they type '@', no user list pops up. Any idea what permissions I need to check? The 'Comments Permissions' does not seem to have any direct reference to using '@'. Thanks in advance!

Also take a look at the "Browse Users and Groups" permission in your Global settings because you can't @ someone if you can't browse the user directory.

Hi @Aravind Gopalakrishnan

Access global permissions

Choose > System.

Click Global Permissions.

Browse users and groups:

View and select users or groups from the user picker, and share issues. Users with this permission can see the names of all users and groups on your site. They can share issues and @mention people on issues.

Grant global permissions to a group of users

You can grant the global permissions described above to user groups. Only site admins can manage groups of users.

To grant global permission:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Add Permission section.
  2. Select the permission you want to grant in the Permission dropdown.
  3. In the Group drop-down list, either:
    • select the group you want to grant the permission to
    • select Anyone to grant permission to users who aren't logged in.

Thanks,

Mayur

Hi @Aravind Gopalakrishnan!

What @Heather Ronnebeck and @Robert Wen_Cprime_ state is absolutely correct! Keep in mind that in the official documentation states for Browse users and groups global permission that:

View and select users or groups from the user picker, and share issues. Users with this permission can see the names of all users and groups on your site. They can share issues and @mention people on issues.

Can you check and see if the "Browse Users" global permission is set for your users?

Thank you @Robert Wen_Cprime_ . I checked the 'Browse Users and Groups' under global permissions and added my user group to that. I then asked the users to verify and they are now able to @ now!
