Here the screenshot of a Task issue.

Clicking not the Task issue configuration I go to the  Task screen.

I see that Epic name is there, and not hidden. In the Dashboard I also see the Epic name that I managed to add sometime before.

But it doesn't show up now...

The same happens if I try to create an issue and try "where is my field". It should be there but is not...

Hi Abete,

On the individual issues you don't really use Epic Name at all only Epic Link. Epic Name is for the Epic issue itself.

Well..."why the field is not there " actually says so:

The field 'Epic Name' is not configured in scope of the project 'myweek' and issue type 'Task' To solve this issue, go to 'Epic Name' configuration page and add it to the scope

But if I go there, "Epic name" is "locked" and can be used only for "epic" issues. It seems I can't change that.

If I add "epic link" to task issue, it show up.

Don't understand really why, but now at least is consistent

Hi Abete,

The 'Epic Name' is actually a name for the epic. This can be different (shorter for example) from the 'Summary' of an epic.

You link a story (or other issue type) to an epic by using the 'Epic Link' field.

On this story, the 'Epic Name' of the parent epic will be shown in a label style.
