I am trying to find a solution for the following issue. We use Jira to track feature requests for engineering and Salesforce for all sales related work. Right now, we ask sales to add a feature request summary to a customer SF field (opportunity) and that creates a jira story. The problem are:
1. many times these are duplicates but sales doesn't know this so we manually need to look through them and if they are dupes, close them and only add another customer name to the original story so we can track how many customers want this feature.
2. since we have no integration, there is no way to track jira tickets status in SF.
In the ideal works I would like the following flow.
a. sales person add's summary for feature request (say "file locking") basically some keywords we agree on
b. in sf they can now magically see if there is a jira story for this already. If there is, they simply mention that in the opportunity and they are done
c. if they want to create a new story, they can do this from salesforce rather than the way we do this now (which involves a google form and a salesforce generated url to populate the form with customer information)
Hi @claus meisel ,
I am Dhiren from the Exalate Team.
Exalate is a completely decentralized bi-directional issue synchronization solution which can help you achieve the desired integration.
You can synchronize SF objects (like cases, opportunities) to Jira Issues and you also have a sync panel to know the linked ticket information.
You can specify what projects and fields shall be mapped and the Groovy scripting engine makes it very customizable.
Thanks, Dhiren
In the part where you note "in sf they can now magically see if there is a jira story..." you are describing some form of integration, whether through an addon or by having Salesforce (or some other tool) call the Jira REST API methods.
Perhaps discuss this with your Salesforce admin to learn what integration options are possible.
Kind regards,
Bill

Feature Requests are a good way to keep track of your customer needs.
With secure integration at the workplace, the business use cases can be easily controlled via Administration Settings.
You get the ability to Create, Search, and link Jira tickets (Feature Requests) from Salesforce and vice versa.
Sinergify - Salesforce Jira Connector provides a real-time sync from Salesforce to Jira, so you can control how the data or information flows bidirectionally.
This gives complete control over the information to your r teams to view/modify at any time while staying in their own native environments.
Also, it offers Potential results that can show duplicates right away when the Salesforce team is trying to create a New Jira request.
This all leads to a reduction of duplicate data and increased productivity.
If you would want to see How many customers have reported this issue, this can easily be visible on the Jira Issue that shows how many cases it's tied to.
If you would also want to keep the total count in a specific field, that can also be done on top of the Product very easily.
I hope it helps.
