When creating a task of type "epic", subtasks are automatically created based on the label.

Moriarty Chiu August 25, 2023

I have incorporated a rule. When an issue of the "epic" classification is generated, a subtask is automatically established based on the label. However, during the execution phase, an error was encountered. Presented below is my rule and the corresponding error message.

Hi,

You can not create subtask directy under Epic

Epic Children have to be standard issue types such as bugs or stories

You can then add subtask to these issuetype.

Hierarchie : Epic => Story / task / bug... => Subtasks

Hope it helps,

Cheers

Hi @Mathieu Truchot

Thank you for the information provided. If I were to add a custom type (Milestone) myself, would I be able to automatically create subtasks when creating a Milestone?

Yes,

1. Create your milestones

2. Create milestones's subtasks

This can be done using the "Create substasks" automation action type,

If you want to create milestone and subtasks within the same automation rule and you want to copy custom fields, you may need to re-fetch your milestone before create the subtask using the "Re-fetch issue data" action.

Hope it helps,

Mathieu

I have successfully fulfilled my requirement. Thank you for the assistance provided.

Furthermore, I would like to accomplish another requirement (How can I automatically add a related task link is... (atlassian.com)), but I am unsure how to proceed. Could you kindly provide me with some guidance?

Best Regards

Moriarty
