Will user story in Jira get impacted if linked test cases are updated in Qmetry or X-ray?

mail2dwarak March 17, 2021

Hi,

we are planning to implement X-ray or qmetry for test management in our project. We proposed this idea to map our test cases with user-stories so that there is a track on every requirement being tested.

But the product owners are little concerned that there would be a mess in and around Issues if it is linked. (They prefer we do exploratory testing and update the issues from ReadyTotest to Done)

we are pondering how to manage this. Any suggestions and advise would be really helpful

Hi @mail2dwarak ,

Thank you for considering "QMetry Test Management for Jira" for tracking your testing activities. For the Test case traceability to Jira Story, QMetry provides a separate panel on the Jira issue page as shown below. The Test cases are not linked to Jira issues in the issue link section.  Also, QMetry does not make any updates to the Jira Story details. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

QMetry provides an Exploratory Testing feature. More details can be found here.

Hi @mail2dwarak

AIO Tests - Test Management for Jira is a tool that follows a different ideology; tests are not issues and hence we do not treat them as such. They can exist as separate entities not affecting the story but can be viewed from stories to give a complete picture of the testing (be it detailed or exploratory).

Key features of the app are

  • easy creation and import of test cases
  • linking to Requirements (Jira stories)
  • organizing in Folders and Sets
  • efficient execution with analytical view of multiple test executions
  • easy recording of run defects and artifacts
  • inbuilt traceability and execution reports and an ability to save, share and export them
  • TestNG, JUnit automation support and a Jenkins plugin

Here is a link to our documentation -

If you would like a demo, please contact us through our support portal or book a time at your convenience.

Regards,
AIO Tests Team
