"Share settings with an existing project" checkbox creates project with no board. Is this a bug?

Using the "Share settings with an existing project" checkbox when creating a company-managed Kanban project generates a new project, however this new project shows up without a board. Is this expected?
Also is there a workaround? How can I create a board attached to the project I just created?

That is expected, since boards are not project specific, they are just located within a project. And yes, you can create a board after the project is created and make that board located in it.
