I'm trying to run what I think is a simple dashboard report, a pie chart showing % of tickets in each StatusCategory. However, StatusCategory is not one of the options under "Statistic Type" when I edit the widget. "Status" does not accomplish the same thing because it has too many options that dilute the overall picture given by StatusCategory's three simple options. Is there a way to access StatusCategory for this report?

If it's not there, there's probably no hope of it being added in the short term. You would probably need to contact Atlassian Support to ask about it.

In the short term, you could create a new custom field with the three values represented by statusCategory and use that field. You would need a post function on your workflows to populate the field or create an Automation For Jira rule to do that for you across the board/globally.
