Required Fields Question

Craig Lashley

I am creating a new Next Gen project and attempting to set a Checkbox to be required but am not successful. These are the steps I followed:

1. Created New Project

2. Selected Project Settings - > Issue Types --> Add Issue Type

3. Created Issue Type

4. Added the Check Box to Context Fields

I can now create a ticket with the issue type but the Check Box is not set to required and I do not see the option. I am also trying to do this without creating a custom field or without creating a screen. Can anyone assist? Thanks.

Hi @Craig Lashley,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Next-gen projects do not have the option to make fields required. If you want to control if a field is required or not you would need to use a classic project instead.

Thank you. When using the Classic version will I need to use custom fields and screens to make a field required on a custom field type?

You can either use a field configuration to always make the field required, or you can make the field required when the user is doing a specific transition.
