Setting up dependency fields

Hello All - with Jira Cloud, how do I set up dependency for fields.  Say I have 3 fields.  A value selected in field1 will decide what set of values to be displayed in field2.  What's the way to do this in Jira Cloud?  I would like to be able to configure this programmatically - i.e. based on some rule set in an json file / database.  Is this possible to do?

This is not an out of the box feature in Jira.

You will need some scripts to perform it. I was able to do it using Groovy through ScriptRunner(Not advertising for the company)
