Tasks not Adding to Board

Dan Cobbett November 24, 2021

When we're creating tasks using the Create button on the top ribbon, the tasks created aren't being added to the main Board view that we specify it needs to go into. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Dan,

If you are a board admin kindly double check the board filter settings. Tickets that will show on the board are tickets that are returned by the board filter. Note: The screenshot is from a Kanban Board but should be similar if you are using a Scrum Board.

Most likely the filter does return newly created issue.  Example screnario, the newly created issue does not have an assignee and the board filter JQL: project = "Sample Project" and Assignee is not Empty

If you are using a Kanban board please check the kanban subfilter as well.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the above but doesn't really answer my question. When using the large Create button to add a Task into Jira, the task is added into the list of Issues however even if you specify the board it needs to be added to then it's not added. Is this expected behavior?

Thanks.

Hi @Dan Cobbett

I'm guessing it could be the mapping of the status on the columns. Board Settings -> Columns. What is the status of the newly created issue? Is this status mapped to the columns of your Board? Find the newly created status and drag it to any of the columns. If the status is in the backlog you can drag and drop it to your other columns. Depending on your board, newly created issues can be configured to go directly to the board columns or the board backlog.

Hi, I don't have that setting. A task goes into the correct place when you add it through the Board itself but when using the Create button in the ribbon then it only adds into the issues log. I've disabled backlog so I doubt it'd be this,

Thanks.

I am having this same issue. Adding task from the board adds it. Using the blue create button doesn't. The "Column and statuses" page shows the correct number of issues, but the board doesn't show all the same ones.
