Hi Guys,
I have added Team Velocity - Gadget in my JIRA dashboard. I have setup it to display the average velocity of team using last 3 sprints, calculated by story points.
We are currently in 20th Sprint, and definitely completed stories in previous sprints.
However for some reason (that I don't know), this gadget is showing current average velocity as "0".
Please see below screen shot.
I will appreciate any input and feedback to fix this.
Hi @bahmed
That appears to be the Team Velocity gadget from StonikByte. You may review the documentation for that addon here: https://bitbucket.org/StonikByte/great-gadgets-add-on/wiki/Home#!team-velocity-gadget And, I do not see any open defects in their backlog for that symptom: https://bitbucket.org/StonikByte/great-gadgets-add-on/issues?q=team+velocity
When you go to the built-in Jira Velocity Chart, what do you see? https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/view-and-understand-the-velocity-chart/
If it shows no completed work, the gadget is correct and your data is the problem. Jira only considers issues completed in a sprint when they are in a status which is mapped to the right-most column on the board. Please check that for the issues you believe to be completed.
Kind regards,
Bill
@Bill Sheboy Thanks for pin pointing to the root cause. I checked the data view of the gadget, and validated that the completed issues are coming as zeroes. Please see attached.
So, I created a new dashboard, and use that in the gadget and the data came right, hence the average velocity. Please see below snashot.
I still have to troubleshoot the previous dashboard, and see what's causing the completed issues not getting counted, may be the filter query, or some other settings.
As per your comment, all the "completed" items are already. mapped to right most column.
Appreciate your help.

Did you select the same board, and the same sprint filters, with your new dashboard versus the original one?
And, if you expand the data table entries (by sprint), do you see what you expect for the sprints?

I created new board with simple filter query.
project = PSC AND Team in cascadeOption(45408) ORDER BY Rank ASC
And, yes, when I expand the data entries, it shows me what I expect from sprints i.e. No. of completed stories are not zeroes.

Given that information, I suggest going to that link I provided for defects and submitting a defect to the vendor. They may notice something which is causing this symptom.

Hello @bahmed
I don't see that gadget available in my bare bones Jira instance. Are you getting that through a third party app? If so, which one?

@Trudy Claspill, As @Bill Sheboy mentioned above. This is the third party gadget from StonikByte. This must have been added by the people with appropriate access to JIRA, to add gadgets. I just searched it in JIRA, and added to my dashboard.
