The date is 6 hours out of sync with my time zone

Yuri Cano September 5, 2023

The server date is 6 hours out of sync with my time zone, how can I correct this offset or have my stories and tasks default to the date and time of my time zone?

What do you mean by the "global timezone"?

With Jira Cloud it is not possible to set the time zone used by the server.  There is a Default User Time Zone in the General Configuration, but that does not set the time zone for the date/times that are stored in the database.

All date/time is stored in the backend database in UTC. The use of the Time Zone setting is to automatically convert that to display in the UI as the equivalent in the user's specified timezone.

Can you provide screen images showing the discrepancy you are observing? What is your timezone setting?

That would be the default to use for automatically transforming the display of date/times from UTC in the database to the user's time zone in the UI. That can be overridden by the user by updating their personal/profile settings.

That does not impact how the dates are stored in Jira's database. All native functionality stores date/times as UTC so that the time zone conversions can be applied consistently.
