Unable to clear due dates or start dates

Some of the issues in my group's Jira projects do not have formal start dates or due dates, so I would like them not to appear on the calendars. However, when I try to remove any date, it stays blank for 2-3 seconds and then repopulates with today's date. I have tried pressing the X button at the end of the field, as well as deleting the date itself and then pressing return, but neither was successful. That is confusing for my group's workflow, so I would like to know how to effectively remove both start dates and due dates, please.

Hi @Dylan Titmuss 

The date are probably populated by an automation for jira, a scriptrunner script of any other app that may be based on those fields. 

Do you see the update in the issue history ?

I have the same issue, I can update dates, but not clear them once they are set
