Hi community,
I've been searching for this one for a while, and I think perhaps it's just not a feature that has been made yet..?
Monthly, I have a task that is created (using Automation), and this goes straight onto our backlog. However, I need it to go straight onto our board. When I try to transition the issue to a new status, I get the following error:
"The rule has been configured with components that require issues to be provided by the trigger. You need to use the option to run JQL to provide issues. The following components require issues: Transition issue"
If anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful.
Thanks
I think that the problem is that the issue that is created in a step in the rule is not available in a later step which tries to transition that. The later step obviously expects an input issue, but probably you're using a trigger that emits issues.
So, the question is: how to fetch the issue you create and pass that along to the remaining steps?

the solution for this problem is to use the "Branch rule / related issues" component. There you just have to select that it should be executed for the last created issue and you can do the transitions

Hi @Stella Taylor ,
You certainly should be able to achieve your goal. It would be good if you could provide a screenshot of your entire rule. If you were trying to transition the issue within the automation rule that creates the issue it may simply be a matter of inserting a refetch data action prior to the transition. However this is just a guess until I see the entire rule.

Hi Jack,
This is my current automation, just for creating the task. It's when I try to add the status transition afterwards is when I get the error.
