I made adjustments to the workflow in one of my projects. To Do and Done did not change, since all projects use them. I mapped all new statuses to In Progress. After I published the changes, the backlog grouping of issues by status in the backlog shows all To Do and any new status mapped to In Progress in the In Progress category.
Forgot the screen shot. The issue list is filtered on "To Do". Point count shows in In Progress.
Hello @Ron Engels
The lozenges at the top that show point counts in the gray, blue, and green bubbles are reflecting point counts based on the Status Category for each issue Status.
The gray bubble will reflect point counts for all issues in Statuses that are gray (part of the "To Do" status category).
The blue bubble will reflect point counts for all issues in Statuses that are blue (part of the "In Progress" status category).
The green bubble will reflect point counts for all issues in Statuses that are green (part of the "Done" status category).
I'm unclear on the following:
- what exactly you did when you talk about changing your workflow to map all new statuses to In Progress
- what you mean by "backlog grouping of issues by statuses"
- how you are determining that "all To Do and any new status mapped to In Progress in the In Progress category"
Can you provide more information and screen images on those statements?

How about explaining the issue this way: Filtering on either "To Do" Status or statusCategory returns no data, even though there are a number of issues that are in Status and statusCategory "To Do"

How are you applying the filter to the board? Is it a quick filter or did you modify the Filter Query for the board.
Do the To Do issues show up if you are not applying the filter?
Can you show us the details of one of those To Do issues?

It is a quick filter: statusCategory = "To Do"
Every issue displays correctly in the Active Sprint and Backlog tabs when no filters are applied.
I don't think showing the content of an issue will help to figure out what's happening.

The detail of one of the To Do issues that I'd like to see is the Status field.
I ask for screen images to ensure that I can see exactly what is in Jira, just in case there is a mismatch with what a person is manually typing into their question here in the community.
If this is what you see when you apply the statusCategory="To Do" filter, then there could be something very wrong with your system.
What you're getting is statusCategory = "In Progress".
