Will I be charged for inviting a user who didn't accept the invite?

I'm curious about the billing implications in Jira when inviting a user who doesn't accept the invitation. I understand that in Jira, administrators or project managers can invite users to join a project or collaborate on an issue. However, I'm uncertain about the potential charges associated with inviting users who don't ultimately accept the invitation or become active participants in the Jira instance.

Specifically, I would like to know if there are any cost considerations or license allocations related to unaccepted invitations. Will inviting a user who doesn't accept the invitation still count towards my Jira license limit or billing? Or does Jira only count active users who have accepted the invitation and are actively engaging with the platform?

I want to ensure that my organization's Jira usage and billing remain accurate and optimized. Therefore, it would be helpful to understand how the billing process works in relation to inviting users who ultimately do not accept the invitation or do not engage with the Jira instance. This information will assist me in effectively managing user invitations and staying within our licensing and budgetary constraints.

Thank you for providing clarity on this matter.

Hi @Imoh Akpaetok ,

Welcome to the community !!

Once users are created they are automatically counted towards billing even if they don't accept the invite or log in. A user must be explicitly deactivated, deleted, or removed from a synced user directory (if you have Google sync) to not count towards billing

Hi Imoh - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

My understanding is that you will be changed for the license for any user that has been invited, even if they have not accepted the invitation. You need to Suspend Access for the user at some point to keep them from affecting your license count.
