Workload per assignee

Shahrzad Shariati March 10, 2023

Is there a way to view workload of each assignee throughout separate team managed projects? I'd like to view how many tasks, story points assigned, and which projects they are across. I've created a filter already but it's not consolidated in a format that is easy to view.

Hi @Shahrzad Shariati , have you as yet played with using Dashboard gadgets? For example I might use the following filter...

project in (A, B, C, D...) and statuscategory = "in progress"

and then, depending on the number of potential assignees, I would pick a gadget to display by Assignee. If the number of assignees is small (<15?) I might use a pie chart otherwise maybe the two dimensional gadget.

@Shahrzad Shariati , You could use the two-dimensional gadget to show the number of issues by assignee in each project but what you don't have is the ability to display the sum of story points within that view. Options to consider:

Thanks so much for these options, I will give them a try and reach out if I have additional questions!

Re: 2nd bullet point using Jira-cloud for excel, I added the "add-on" to excel but when I went to connect after this step:

I get this page after I "accept"

What could be the problem here?

I'm unsure to be sure. I have not seen this before. You might contact Atlassian support.

Hi @Shahrzad Shariati

You can try ActivityTimeline plugin - it's a resource planning tool. There is a possibility to track users' tasks from different projects and teams, and see workload and story points (need to be set in configurations).

@Jack Brickey With your example it doesn't associate projects with resource/assignee. Maybe I'm not following. My goal is to be able to view within all team managed boards: which projects each resource is working on what % of time whether it is in date/story points etc..

I have used the Pie Chart gadget but it only displays # of tasks each resource has.  Under "configure" in Pie Chart, I used "Assignee" as statistic type.

I'd like to see which projects and how long it will take for them to complete. Assignee is the focal point and list al that is associated with that resource. I thought about using smartsheets (?) but I would need to create a connector and I cannot do that if I do not have a project associated with it. I only have my JQL filter of all the resources and various columns I'm interested. The filter view in Jira does displayed I'd like.

i.e. imagine an excel sheet

Column 1 (total story points)     Col 2 (dates or story points)

Resource 1

Project  (a) they are working on

Project (b)  they are allocated too

Resource 2

     ....

Resource 3

    ....
