need to create a file containing the values entered into custom fields on an issue when the status changes such as changing from Needs Approval to Approved
we will be using the contents of that file as the input parameters for an automated process
we will have something periodically checking for the existence of such files and will process them accordingly

It will help you export data with the kind of changelog you need, including the history of statuses changes.

no it does not help, i need an automated solution not something that requires manual generation of a text file
