I am struggling with a basic one.
Using the Jira Automation I have not found a way to copy values from a static, hardcode, known, or template issue.
Am I missing this?
My use case would be within a project
After an update to FieldA in the DEMO project.
I want to copy FieldB of DEMO-55 to FieldB of the updated issue.
Since DEMO-55 is known (and would be hard coded) I have not found a way to do.
It seems like the source of copies are Parent, Trigger, or Destination. None appear to work for my case.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi Pete,
It's a little hidden.
Do all that you have listed above and select the source to be Current Issue.
THEN click on the words Current Issue which will cause another pop-up where you can tell it which field to copy from.
Thanks for the reply.
I am looking to copy fields from a known/fixed issue and copy this to the Current issue.
Anyway, do this?
Triggered Change on DEMO-99 -> Copy Field A from DEMO-55 to Field A in Demo-99
Trigger Change on DEMO-100 -> Copy Field A From DEMO-55 to Field A in DEMO-100
In this case DEMO-55 is hardcoded.

There needs to be some type of linkage between the two issues so that the triggered issue knows exactly which other issue to copy from. But yes, you can do that. :-)
