rest/api/2/issue/<issue id>/editmeta is not returning correct list of allowed issue type field

AutomationUIUser October 16, 2023

Hello, we aim to identify the potentially permissible issue type values for a specific entity using the API "rest/api/2/issue/<issue id>/editmeta." However, it consistently fails to provide accurate responses. The values we observe on the UI are absent in the API response, and sometimes the entire field is missing. What might be the underlying cause for this issue? Are there alternative APIs that can provide the required information, or could this scenario be linked to specific settings?

HI @AutomationUIUser

What kind of fields are you missing?

Fields from apps, these are not available via the Jira API, as they are not part of the API.

They might be available from the APP API, if there is one.

Hi,

We are fetching the Issue Type field from the response, for which we have observed an inaccurate response.

The meta information for this field is : "issuetype":{"required":true,"schema":{"type":"issuetype","system":"issuetype"},"name":"Issue Type","key":"issuetype","operations":[],"allowedValues":[...]]. We presume that this resides within the built-in field in the Jira server for work items.

Please let us know if you need any further details on the same
