Hi, I am using JIRA cloud with the big picture apps. When I load my project the GANTT chart doesn't want to load. I try waiting more than 10 min. or refresh the page, reboot the computer, nothing is working.
Sometimes I get a quick pop-up saying something like "the date range execeeded the limit and we remove some of the task to get better performance".
All the other tabs (scope, board, ressources, roadmap) of the project are working and I have around 100 task/sub-task in this project.
Anything I could do to fix this issue...
thanks
Hi Patrice,
BigPicture in its current cloud version(I am writing this just days before the new Gantt which is already available in the beta version for the server platform will be rolled out for cloud as well) was designed to cover planning period of not more than 50 years, i.e. the most distant task into the past and future should not be more than 50 years apart. The overall period of programs depends on the tasks' dates which are dynamically loaded while opening the plugin Gantt chart. The performance problems stem from the fact that rendering the calendar view of the Gantt chart for more than 50 years takes up a lot of your laptop's Ram memory and consumes CPU.
Luckily following these simple steps you can correct this problem
* Check the Start date / End date mapping in your
Jira Settings >> Apps >> BigPicture >> Task configuration
* Then go to search for issues in Jira, and add these fields as columns and sort the tickets to see min and max dates.
* Correct any dates that are too distant into the past or future. Please remember that the overall period covered by any BigPicture program should not exceed 50 years.
* As the past step please make sure your Jira Project, version or other non task Jira parents represented in the Gantt chart as Parent tasks are not in the Manual/Lock/Top down mode as they might keep the long task bar representation and still cause the problem. Please change the task mode to Auto Bottom Up to let them resize automatically in such cases. After that you can revert the Task mode back to it's previous value.
If you still experience problems with loading and seeing errors please contact us through our Support Portal and we will be more than happy to troubleshoot your particular problem further.
I hope the information helps.
